My original post did not save so I have to start it all over again. Hopefully it is as good as the original post lol.
What is the Word of God? When you google it - this is the definition.
Word of God - a manifestation of the mind and will of God. manifestation - a clear appearance; "a manifestation of great emotion"
I could of not have said it better myself. Where do you find God's Word you ask? In the bible! Have you ever wished that life would come with a manual? Something you could read to help you make decisions or when you are feeling weak or sad? Something you could read that would give you hope? This is it! The Bible is our life application manual. Coming right from God Himself. Not only is the bible God's Word but God IS the Word!
There are so many different translation bibles available out there. I went with the NIV because I am French and I find it easier to understand. But I have no doubt you will be able to find one that works for you. So get a bible. Make it a habit to read it every day. I am not always able to read it every day but I also do devotional readings where I still read scriptures.
Bottom line - Its very important that you make time for it. I don't have kids so its easy for me to wake up in the morning, drink my coffee and read scriptures. I actually look forward to it. No better way to start my day. You might not be able to do the same depending on the life you have but do find time. I promise you, it is worth it. We have bible apps available to us. Maybe that is a better option for you. But do find time. I cannot say this enough!
When you read scriptures, it might not always make sense right away or you might not always understand the meaning behind some of them but the more time you read it, the more it will make sense to you. You might find scriptures that speaks to you more than others. Highlight them. Study them. Meditate on them. The more you read, the more you will know who God is. Before reading, you can also pray and ask God to help you understand scriptures better.
My Pastor shared this with the church a few months ago. Things to keep in mind when reading the bible.
- How is what I am reading pertaining to the fact that Jesus Himself lived on my behalf?
- How does it pertain to the fact that He died for me? That He rose for me? That He will return for me?
- Read the bible with the understanding that Jesus obeyed the scriptures on my behalf
Until the next time, happy reading! :)
God bless,
Nancy xo
