Do you ever wonder if God is truly at work in you? Do you sometimes feel like you don’t hear God speaking to you? Yes, and yes! As a Christian, I often wish that God would be speaking to me in an obvious, loud way. “Nancy, this is your God. I want you to stop overthinking” or “Nancy, this is your God. Stop worrying, you are going to be just fine.” It would be so much easier! Unfortunately, it does not work that way. Not for this girl anyway!
I want to share with you an encounter that I had this weekend. I witnessed the work of God right in front of my eyes. It was beautiful! My husband and I went for a drive and before heading home, we decided to grab a coffee. On our way there, I noticed a homeless person. I asked my husband if he could drive me to the bank so I could bring this person some money to help a little. When we got back, I saw a car stopped and it had a Jesus bumper sticker which warmed my heart so much!
When I got out of the car, the homeless woman looked at me and she could not believe it. Another person stopping to help her out. I don’t fully recall what she said but I know she mentioned God’s doing and I told her how right she was. That it was God’s doing! I don’t know why but I felt so much love for this woman. Well I do know why, because Jesus is living in me, but I don’t know. Its hard to explain. She told me she was homeless and living in a shed with a bed. I broke down in tears. I told her to not give up. To keep her hope and faith and to keep on praying. I told her that things will get better. Not because that’s what I was supposed to say but because I felt it. I couldn’t help myself, but I hugged her. It was special. I don’t know who needed it the most. Her or me.
Bottom point is that yes God is at work in you! Yes God is speaking to you! It’s not always the obvious but God used me to bring some happy tears to a woman who may have been losing hope. God used this woman to show me what loving our neighbors truly meant. God will use you in any way that He can. Sometimes obvious, sometimes not so much. But He will use you and others for the purpose of His good.
God bless,
Nancy xo
