Conviction...

What is conviction? Conviction is a sense of guilt and shame leading to repentance. When you make the decision to turn your life to Jesus and become a Christian, you will get a spiritual gift which is called the Holy Spirit. The same Spirit that Jesus had. The Holy Spirit is there to help you through your journey with God. I wont go in much detail about who is the Holy Spirit and His purpose yet, but the Holy Spirit is needed for your walk with God.

Years ago, I did something that I am not proud of. It was before I knew Jesus. In the moment, I thought it was the best decision I could do and I went with it not thinking much of it. When I found God, I learned that what I had done was a sin. Even though I knew in my mind that it was a sin, I did not feel it in my heart. I did not understand what was so bad about it. I had asked God to forgive me for it but for some reason, it was always on my mind. It's like I always felt the need to ask God for his forgiveness concerning this matter.

Then one day I was listening to a podcast from one of my favourite Pastor. He brought up the subject of the sin I had committed. The more he talked about it, the more I started understanding what I had done. The Holy Spirit convicted me. I had to pause the sermon and I broke down in tears asking God for His forgiveness. I understood what I had done and as painful as it was, I was finally able to move on because my heart finally knew why I was asking for forgiveness. And because of that, I knew God had forgiven me.

As a human, we are all born sinners. But sometimes, the Holy Spirit will convict you of something that you are doing and bring you to repentance. It might be something you are doing that everyone else is doing but for some reason, God will ask you to stop and to repent from it. Ask for forgiveness from your heart and move on. God will forgive as long it comes from the heart.

God bless,
